The older sons of Jacob hated Joseph and his dreams
‘Til he became the object of their homicidal schemes.
They sold him to an Ishmaelite who sold him as a slave,
But, Joseph grew and little knew that Israel he would save.
A baby in a basket grew and finally became
The mighty leader of his people;
Moses was his name.
When Pharaoh’s daughter rescued him she never knew that he
Would be the one that God would use to set His people free.
Now, Hannah gave her son to God before the child was born
And Samuel grew to bless the kings with his anointing horn.
He poured the oil upon the heads of two of Israel’s kings
And lived a life that shows to all what full commitment brings.
Little David tended sheep while older brothers went to war.
He came to bring them food and wondered what they cowered for.
He took Goliath’s challenge, trusting God to use his sling,
And slew Goliath to become one day the mighty king.
A Joseph or a Moses may be in your bus or class.
There may be gold beneath what seems to you a lot of brass.
Invest your life in Esther, David, Hannah, Samuel;
One day they’ll grow, your name to bless,
Eternity will tell.
And KIDS GROW UP! KIDS GROW UP!
When you put the right things in ‘em then one day they will show up;
Oh, KIDS GROW UP! KIDS GROW UP!
With the Dear Lord up above ‘em we can love ‘em ‘til they do grow up!
