MADE IN THE IMAGE AND LIKENESS OF GOD – Part Two

Genesis 1:26-27

Our three lines represent the three persons of the God head.  They work together as one.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Matthew 6:24

When we unite together to do a work, there must be ONE master.  There is no loyalty if there is no master.  God is a God of organization.  He has a plan in which to get the work accomplished.  Satan is confusion.  Satan is self serving and lives for the “I will” of his life. God’s will is not self serving, but is worked through LOVE (I Cor. 13).   God’s way runs smoothly.  The Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit are all God, but the Father is the master of the Godhead and will remain so after all things are put under Jesus feet.  The authority structure is in the heavens and will always remain in operation.  You cannot accomplish the work of God outside of the authority structure!  To build your work on the authority structure is to build your work on the rock.  To build your work outside of the authority structure is to build your work on the sand.  It will fall!  The question is not, will it fall, but, when will it fall.  Not only can there only be one master, but they all must work within one another’s life.

Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

John 14:11

An  equilateral triangle is a great way to picture the Godhead, the home and the church.  All three sides are equal and are connected to one another.  They are one, working in and through one another.  In Philippians 2:6 Jesus said while being in the form of God, He thought it was not robbery to say He was equal to God.  All three are equally God, but they all three work through the WILL of the Father.  The Word and the Holy Spirit are both submitted to working the Will of the Father and do not work independently of the Father.  Jesus said if you have seen Him, you have seen the Father.  Only with God do you find equality!  He is not a respecter of persons.

We are told in Ephesians 5:21 that we are to submit ourselves one to another.  In order to operate a home in the same manner that the Godhead operates, each person must submit to having the other work through them and they must submit to working through the other ones’ life also.  This is a work of faith because man is not trust worthy!!!  By opening up your life to someone else you are putting your life at risk.  To work within someone else’s life is to put their life at risk.  We are sinners.  It’s one thing for the Godhead to operate like this, after all they are perfect and they can trust one another.  So, how do we do this?

We do all things as “UNTO THE LORD!”  We look to the Lord for our leading, protection and direction.  We place our lives in the hands of our God.  Yes, sometimes God allows man (or woman) to do us harm, but God is in charge of all things that He allows to touch our lives.  Therefore, we put ourselves at risk, believing that God will take care of us.

There is a struggle for both the man and the woman when it comes to working their home through the authority structure.  The man does not often mind being the BOSS, but many times he resents being held responsible for the whole work of the home.  The woman, most of the time, does not resent the work she is given to do, but resents having to work through the man’s will and not her own.

A smart man, will be a wise husbandman and see to it that his wife has everything she needs to do the work the home calls her to do.  The better she is cared for, the better her work will be and the more glory he will receive.  A smart woman will seek wisdom and learn how to affect the man’s heart so she will be able to influence the man to open his heart to her desires.  Many times influence is more powerful than authority.  I am reminded of what Jesus did when he suffered at the hands of man.

Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

1 Peter 2:23

Many men and women will never work their homes through the authority structure.  They will not exercise their faith in GOD.  They refuse to live as ONE.  They can only see man and they don’t trust him!

There is much to say about the work of the home and the advantages that come from working through and in the lives you serve.  How is the Lord changing us?  By working within us.  From glory to glory He’s changing me!!!  We can make a difference in the lives of those we serve, if we will do it God’s way.  United we stand – Divided we fall!
